How to Make Rod-shaped Charcoal by Yourself
Charcoal is a clean and convenient fuel for fireplaces and cooking like BBQ, there are many charcoal products for sale in the market, it is very easy for people to make charcoal by themselves, it might need a couple of times before you can master the skills in the days after. And before the making of charcoal, the first thing you should understand is how the charcoals are formed from the wood: when the wood is burned to a certain degree, keep heating the wood with fire under low oxygen condition, this process is destructive distillation, the sulfide matter, wood tar, water content are gasified and separated from the wood, the material left is the charcoal.
If you want to make rod-shaped charcoal by yourself, here are the instructions you need to follow:
- Find a steel container, cut the wood into proper sizes, find an open area;
- Burn the wood to certain degree to fasten the progress(half burned);
- Seal the container as tight as possible, keep the heating until the distillation process is finished.
- Wait until the container is cooled and get the charcoal out.
